Jajpur: Police on Friday rescued a youth of the town who was allegedly kidnapped by a money lender for not repaying a loan and detained a person in this connection.
According to sources, the youth, Manas Gedi had taken some money on loan from one Koresa Bibi of Kusuma area in the town. Though he had not defaulted in paying the interest of the loan, he had not made the payment of the last instalment for a few days.
“I had taken Rs 23,700 from Koresa Bibi on loan on March 20. Bibi and two other persons came to my house and demanded the interest amount on Thursday afternoon. I told them to give it on Monday. But they kidnapped me and told my parents to bring the money,” said Manas.
Following the alleged kidnap of Manas, his wife filed a complaint in Jajpur police station. Based on the complaint, police rescued Manas from a house near Kusuma Park in Khandara area.
Jajpur SDPO Saroj Kumar Upadhaya said they have detained an employee of the Bharat Money Finance, a non-banking finance company which was allegedly involved in the case.
