Balasore: Police seized brown sugar worth more than Rs 30 lakh and arrested one person in this connection in Odisha’s Balasore district on Wednesday.
apprehended a smuggler in Balasore district and seized 300 gms of brown sugar from his possession.
Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid in Jhadeswarpur under Jaleswar police station in the district. During the raid, they seized brown sugar weighing around 300 gram from a drug smuggler.
The seized drug is estimated to cost over Rs 30 lakh in commercial terms. The drug smuggler was also arrested, sources said.
The police have registered a case under NDPS Act 1985 against the accused person. They have started investitation to ascertain the source of procurement of the brown sugar by the accused.
