Aska: Police on Thursday seized more than 20, 000 in cash and other items after conducting a surprise raid at Aska Sub-Jail in Ganjam district on Thursday morning.
“During search, a team comprising Additional District Magistrate, officials from Dharkot, Shergarh, Sorada and Aska police stations seized four mobile phones from the toilet from the jail premises. Besides, unaccounted cash to the tune of Rs 20, 570, some playing cards, ganja, gutkha packets and several other objectionable items were also recovered from the spot”, Aska SDPO Subash Chandra Panda informed.
The raid was carried out after receiving information about suspicious and violent activities inside the prison. Further inquiry into the matter is ongoing, Panda said.
