Boudh: Police have seized around 1.5 quintal of ganja worth more than Rs 1.5 crore from a forest in Odisha’s Boudh district.
Speaking to media persons on Sunday, Boudh SP Raj Prasad said they had received reliable information about huge quantity of ganja stocked in Bidamaska forest near Dimirikhol village.
A police team, led by Boudh SDPO Kuldip Meena and IIC of Boudh model police station Ranjit Kumar Muni conducted a raid on the place inside the forest. During the raid, they found the dump of ganja and seized it.
The seized ganja weighed 1,560 kg and its value was estimated to be around Rs 1.56 crore, the SP said. However, four to five persons, who were suspected to be involved in ganja smuggling, managed to escape on arrival of the police team, he added.
Police have started further investigation after registering a case and were trying to trace the absconding ganja smugglers.
