Police Seize Huge Cache Of Illegal Firecrackers, Seal Village In Cuttack

Cuttack: Police seized a huge cache of firecrackers and sealed a village under Jagatpur police limits in Odisha’s Cuttack district on Sunday morning.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Jagatpur police led by the ACP of Cuttack Commissionerate Police raided Trilochanpur village this morning and found firecrackers stocked in houses of the villagers. Some had also hidden them in the bushes in the backyard.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the villagers had prepared the firecrackers illegally, violating the guidelines of the Forest and Environment Department. They had no valid licence.
Till reports last came in, 11 tractor-load of firecrackers worth over Rs 50 lakh have so far been seized.

Apprehending law and order situation, seven platoons of the armed police force have been deployed in the village.

Though no one has been arrested so far, police said action will be taken against the villages involved in the preparation of the illegal firecrackers.
