Koraput: Police seized ganja weighing over one and a half quintal being smuggled in a car bearing ‘Press’ sign in Odisha’s Koraput district on Friday.
As per reports, the police were carrying out checking of vehicles at Bada Debata under Padua police station. During the exercise, when they checked an XUV bearing registration number of Maharashtra and ‘Press’ signage, the police team found 7 sacks containing several packets of ganja.
The total weight of the seized ganja was 151 kg which would cost more than Rs 5 lakh, said Nandapur SDPO Sanjay Mohapatra. The ganja is suspected to be smuggled to outside Odisha, he added.
The police have arrested 2 persons travelling in the car with the contraband. The arrested persons belong to Maharashtra. The police have registered a case and further investigation is on.
