Puri: Police staged a flag march on Bada Danda (Grand Road) here on Sunday as part of the security preparations for a smooth and hassle-free Bahuda Yatra (return journey of Lord Jagannath and his siblings) on Tuesday.
Ahead of Bahuda Yatra, police have ordered hotels, lodging houses and commercial establisments along Bada Danda to keep their shutters down on that day.
Also, no person will be allowed to watch the yatra from the rooftops and balconies of the houses along Bada Danda.
Notably, the district administration will impose prohibitory order under Section 144 in Puri town from 8 pm on Monday to restrict the movement of people. Puri Collector Samarth Verma informed this to the media on Saturday.
As many as 20 special police squads will be deployed to impose strict shutdown during Bahuda Yatra, sources said.
