Police Stop Marriage Midway, Take Away Groom From Altar In Bhubaneswar; Know Why

Bhubaneswar: Police have stopped the marriage of a man and detained him for allegedly getting married for second time in Bhubaneswar.

As per reports, the man, identified as Jitendra Swain, working as a driver in the city, had gone to Kolkata on some work in 20o9. At the time, he came in contact with a girl named Rama.

Jitendra, who claimed himself to be an orphan, established a relationship with Rama and both got married in the court in Kolkata. Jitendra used to come to Bhubaneswar to meet his family regularly taking some plea other before Rama.

Meanwhile, Rama got suspicious and started enquiring about Jitendra. In 2019, she came to know the details about her husband and confronted him. But Jitendra refuted the allegations and came to Bhubaneswar without informing his wife. He did not respond despite repeated phone calls from Rama.

Following this, Rama filed a complaint with at local police station. A few days back, she came to know that Jitendra was going to get married again. She along with members of an NGO came to Bhubaneswar.

On Friday, they went to a temple behind Raj Bhavan where the marriage of Jitendra was being solemnised. Rama openly announced about her marriage with Jitendra leading to a chaos in the area.

On being informed, a team from Bhubaneswar Mahila police station went to the spot and stopped the marriage. They also took Rama, Jitendra and his family to the police station for questioning.

Meanwhile, Jitendra’s family said Rama was making false allegation by producing fake marriage certificate. Jitendra did not know her nor they had got married, they claimed.
