Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Thursday submitted report over the much-hyped engineering student Asutosh Mohanty alias Rishi death case before Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) stating that the student died due to excessive consumption of alcohol and drug overdose.
In its report, the police stated that no clue was found from Rishi’s mobile phone that was sent to forensic laboratory for investigation.
Earlier, the OHRC had sought a report from the Commissionerate Police on the inquiry into the death of the engineering student on the basis of a petition filed by a human rights activist.
On December 18 , 2016, Rishi’s mother Pritirani Mohanty had filed a complaint with Khandagiri police requesting to expedite the investigation process into her son’s mysterious death. She had also asked the police to bring Rishi’s friends, roommates and his girlfriend under the purview of investigation.
The youth, who had completed engineering at a private university in Bhubaneswar, died on May 6, 2016.
