Hyderabad: Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Yelamakuri Narasimha Reddy was arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) authorities on Thursday after searches in his house unearthed assets worth Rs 70 crore, which were disproportionate to his official source of income.
Reddy, currently posted in Malkajgiri under Rachakonda police commissionerate, was produced before a special court for ACB cases in Nampally criminal court.
ACB director general J Purna Chander Rao said that ACB authorities conducted searches simultaneously in 25 locations in Hyderabad city, Warangal, Jangaon, Nalgonda, Karimnagar districts, as well as in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh.
Documents recovered from Reddy’s residence revealed that he owned 55 acres of agricultural land at Anantapur, four plots measuring 1960 square yards of land near Cyber Towers in Madhapur in Hyderabad, two more house plots, a four-storeyed commercial complex at Hafeezpet and two houses.
“The searches also found unaccounted Rs 15 lakh in cash, two bank lockers and investments in real estate and other businesses at Reddy’s residence,” Rao informed.
He said the ACB had conducted searches based on the reliable information that Reddy had acquired assets disproportionate to his lawful sources of income by indulging in corrupt practices and dubious means during his service as a public servant.
