Keonjhar: The body of an Odisha Auxiliary Police Force (OAPF) constable was found hanging from a tree near his house at a village in Ghatagaon area of Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Saturday.
The incident was reported from Hathinota village under the jurisdiction of Ghatgaon police station in the district. The deceased was identified as Premanand Naik, who was posted in Bhadrak district.
Premanand is survived by his wife and a 5-year-old son and a 2-year-old daughter.
On being informed, police rushed to the village and sent the body for postmortem. They launched an investigation into the incident.
While preliminary inquiry indicated that the jawan might have committed suicide, the exact reason of his death will be ascertained only after the postmortem report is received. Probe is underway and further details are awaited.
