Bhubaneswar: The leaders of BJP and Congress in Odisha have appealed to the state government to declare January 17 and 22 as dry days in view of inauguration of heritage corridor in Puri and “Pran Pratishtha” at Ram Mandir in Ayodhya respectively.
The leaders of the two opposition parties, in video messages, have wished the people of the people for the celebration on the two days. They include Jeypore MLA Tara Prasad Bahinitpati, former minister Rabi Narayan Nanda, BJP leaders Gautam Samantray and Suash Mohapatra and former zilla parishad member Bindurani Mishra.
They have said the entire nation will engage in celebrating the consecration of Ram temple at Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh and “Pran Pratistha” of Ramlala in its sanctum sanctorum on January 22. Similarly, the people of Odisha will join in opening of the heritage corridor around Jagannath temple in Puri on January 17.
Since both days mark will mark festivities amid religious fervour, the government should declare both dates as dry days and prohibit sale and public consumption of liquor across the state.
