Bhubaneswar: Various political parties celebrated 69th Republic Day by
organisations different functions across the state on Friday.
The ruling BJD organised a grand function at its party headquarters
where Chief Minister and party President Naveen Patnaik unfurled the
national flag in presence of MP Prasanna Patsani, MLAs, Bhubaneswar
Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena and other senior
leaders.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister called upon the party
workers to work for the betterment of people of the state,
particularly for the downtrodden persons of the society.
The State Unit of Baratiya Janata Party (BJP) also celebrated the day
with senior leader Biswabhusan Haranchandan hoisted the tri-colour at
the party headquarters here.
Harichandan spoke about the importance of Republic Day and asked the
party workers to take a pledge to ensure safety of women and
protection of their rights, and to strengthen the party organisation
in Odisha.
Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) also organised a function to
celebrate the day. A large number of people of the area and party
members attended the programme.
OPCC president Prasad Harichandan, who hoisted the national flag, paid
rich tributes to the martyrs and recalled the contribution of freedom
fighters.
Later, the party members sang patriotic songs including ‘Saare Jahan
Se Achha’. Sweets were also distributed among the people.
A similar function was also held at the office of All India Trinamool
Congress, Odisha Unit.
Hoisting the flag, party’s state unit chairman Dr Aryakumar Jnanendra
advised the youths to rise on the occasion and work for the country’s
progress.
