Bhubaneswar: A number of politicians have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Omicron-fuelled third wave. Some twice, even thrice.
Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Chief Minister
Kejriwal tweeted on January 4, “I have tested positive for Covid. Mild Symptoms. Have isolated myself at home.”
It’s the second time the AAP leader has tested positive. He and his wife had contracted the virus in April 2021 during the second wave.
Manoj Tiwari, BJP leader
Tiwari announced he had tested positive in a series of tweets on January 4.
Randeep Singh Surjewala, Congress spokesperson
The Congress general secretary has isolated himself at home. Surjewala, who got COVID last year as well, tweeted, “After experiencing symptoms like mild fever and cold, I got myself tested and am Covid positive.”
Mahendra Nath Pandey, Union Heavy Industries Minister
Pandey was admitted to hospital on January 3. The BJP MP from Chandauli had earlier also tested positive.
Naba Kisore Das, Health and Family Welfare Minister, Odisha
He tested positive on January 7. “I tested asymptomatic COVID positive and now in home isolation,” he tweeted.
Babul Supriyo, TMC leader
Supriyo, a former Union minister, has now tested positive thrice. He was discharged from a Kolkata hospital on January 5.
Dilip Ray, former Union minister and Rourkela MLA
He tested positive on January 6, contracting the virus for the second time. He tweeted that his symptoms were mild. He had also tested positive in March 2021.
Bharati Pravin Pawar, Union MoS for Health & Family Welfare
She too joined the long list of ministers testing positive on January 6.
Nityanand Rai, Union Minister for Home Affairs
He too tested positive on January 6.
Sasmit Patra, Rajya Sabha MP and BJD national spokesperson
After testing positive on January 7, he tweeted, “I have tested positive for COVID-19… Despite being fully vaccinated, I got it now and had it once in 2020. This shows we must keep our guard up. Stay safe, mask up, stay alert.”
