Rayagada: The poll flying squad seized Rs 10 lakh from a car near Kotpeta village of Rayagada district on Thursday.
Accused Padmanav has been detained for interrogation.
Led by Rayagada tehsildar Umashankar Behera, the squad seized the cash from the car, which was travelling from Rayagada to Antamada. The accused said he was taking the cash to pay cotton farmers.
In another case, officials of the static surveillance team seized cash worth Rs 9.20 lakh from two vehicles on the outskirts of Rourkela on Wednesday night.
While Rs 6 lakh was seized from a vehicle near Ambagan Chhak, Rs 3.20 lakh was seized from another vehicle on the Kuanrmunda-Biramitrapur road.
The cash was seized in the presence of local magistrates after the passengers could not furnish a satisfactory reply.
