Dhenkanal/Bargarh: Polling is underway in two Notified Area Councils in Hindol in Dhenkanal district and Attabira in Bargarh districts.
About 13,000 voters are exercising their franchise in 13 booths for a total of 12 wards in Attbira NAC to determine the fate of 38 candidates. This is for the second time that the polling is being conducted in Attabira NAC after it got the NAC status on April 3, 2012.
In Hindol NAC, polling is being held in 16 booths for a total of 16 wards. A total of 9647 voters will decide the fate of 54 candidates. Out of 16 booths, separate booths have been set up in three wards for the women to exercise their franchise.
The polling which began at 8 am would conclude at 5 pm.
After the polling is over, the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) would be taken to the NAC office with tight security and kept inside the strong room under the close watch of the police force to be deployed in and around the office.
Counting would begin at 8 am on April 5. The counting would be done in two tables in each NAC while the results would be announced after the 6th and final round counting.
Polling in Nuapada NAC could not be held due to the stay by the Orissa High Court.
It may be mentioned that as per the directive of the Election Commission, the State Election Commission (SEC) on March 6 had notified the elections to the three aforesaid NACs scheduled on April 3.
