Koraput: A pregnant woman had to be carried on a cot for nearly 5km at Bhagamari village under Pipalapadar panchayat of Koraput on Sunday morning. This is often the case in the interior parts of Odisha as ambulances fail to reach them on time.
Sources said the woman, Nimai Mandinga, complained of labour pain following which her family members contacted the ambulance service. However, the ambulance could not reach the village due to poor road connectivity.
Left with no other option, her family members, with the help of villager residents carried her for 5km till the ambulance.
