Rome: The Vatican has sought explanation from Instagram after the official account of Pope Francis ‘liked’ a photo of a Brazilian bikini model Natalia Garibotto.
The ‘like’, which was visible on November 13, has been ‘unliked’ now.
The photo shows Garibotto wearing a bikini near a school locker with the caption “I can teach you a thing or two,” with a devil horn emoji.
The photo has been reshared by Garibotto’s management company COY Co saying that it has “received the POPE’S OFFICIAL BLESSING”.
Garibotto responded with a joke stating, “At least I’m going to heaven.”
She has over 2.4 million followers and this particular photo has been liked over 1.5 lakh times.
A Vatican spokesperson told the Guardian, “We can exclude that the ‘like’ came from the Holy See, and it has turned to Instagram for explanations.”
Pope Francis’ account has 7.4 million followers and follows no one.
