Mumbai: The star cast of Zee TV’s popular sitcom ‘Humari Bahu Silk’ is going through a financial crisis due to non-payment of their dues.
After the lead actor of the daily soap, Zaan Khan, it’s the turn of actress Vandana Vithlani to reveal that she has been hit hard due to non-payment of dues.
Vandana stated that she had worked from May to October 2019, but has been paid only for the month of May till date.
The actress said that the show makers owe her lakhs of rupees.
With no option left, Vandana has turned to selling rakhis online to feed her family and manage school fees of her children.
Vandana’s husband Vipul, who is a theatre artist, is also out of work because of the lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I shot from May to October 2019, but have been paid only for the month of May. My dues run into lakhs of rupees. It’s been more than a year without any payment and I have exhausted all my savings. I had bagged a role in ‘Musakaan’ in November 2019, but it shut down in two months. I was paid for that show, but how long would it last? I have now started making rakhis and selling them online to keep myself engaged and also make some money. Obviously, I am not earning much, but anything is good at this point,” Vandana told TOI.
Earlier, lead actor of ‘Hamari Bahu Silk’ Zaan Khan and other actors of the sitcom had also protested against the producers of the show over non-payment of dues.
Zaan had even shared videos on his Instagram handle calling out the producers of the show.
