Bhubaneswar: A mini-truck got stuck as an approach road to flyover on National Highway 16 caved in near Bhubaneswar on Monday.
According to sources, the incident took place when the empty mini-truck was en route to Khurda in the afternoon. As the driver took the vehicle to the approach road to go to the flyover on the NH 16 near Aiginia, the road caved in.
The front right wheel of the vehicle got stuck and the driver sustained minor injuries. Soon a crater was formed in the place.
It led other vehicles to stop moving and panic spread in the area. However, the National Highway rescue team rushed to the spot on being informed. They pulled the mini-truck out of the crater and helped restore movement of the vehicles. The NH officials also started immediate repair of the damaged portion of the road.
The locals said the road was constructed around six months back. They alleged that poor quality materials used in the construction led to the incident.
