Positivity Rate Drops By 3% As Odisha Reports 10368 Fresh COVID Cases

Bhubaneswar: Odisha saw a 3 per cent drop in the test positivity rate (TPR) on Thursday as 10,368 more people, including 1,090 in the age group of 18 years, were found infected by COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

With these cases being detected from 74,234 samples sent for test, the TPR stood at 13.7 per cent compared to 16.7 per cent the previous day.

The state had reported the year’s highest single-day tally of 11,607 on Wednesday, after logging 11,086 fresh COVID-19 cases on Tuesday and 10,489 cases the day before, a slight drop from 11,177 on Sunday.

According to the I & PR department, 6015 of the fresh infections are from quartine and 4353 local contacts. Khurda district reported the highest of 3,036 cases followed by Sundargarh (1,505) and Cuttack (940).

These new cases have pushed the active cases tally in the state to 88346 active with five districts in RED Zone.
