Post-Mortem Adds Twist To Class VIII Girl’s Death In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The mystery deepened around the death of a Class VIII student in the city with the post-mortem report mentioning the presence of a poisonous substance in her stomach.

Police said they will be able to identify the substance after receiving the viscera report. Accordingly, they will investigate whether the girl was murdered or she committed suicide.

The girl had reportedly died after falling from the terrace of a four-storey apartment building at BJB Nagar here on February 16.

While initial reports termed it as an accident, a post on her Instagram handle indicated that she could have committed suicide by jumping off the terrace.

A few hours before her death, she wrote, ‘Bye Bye People’. To a friend, who asked her about her plans, she replied, ‘Hell. May Be, Heaven.”

According to police sources, the 14-year-old was last seen on the terrace between 4.30 pm and 5 pm. A security man engaged at the apartment later saw her lying on the ground in a critical condition.

Her family members were reportedly unaware about her posts on Instagram and refused to comment further on the incident.

The girl, who studied in a private school in the city, was a meritorious student and knew Korean language. But her social media posts told a different story of immense mental stress, media reports said.
