Malkangiri: A postmaster was shot dead by a group of unidentified miscreants at Kamalapadar village under Chitrakonda police limits in Malkangiri district on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Narayan Polasi, postmaster of Papuluru sub-post office in the district.
According to sources, the incident took place at around 11 pm when 10-15 armed miscreants arrived at the village, took the postmaster with them and allegedly shot him dead.
Some locals suspect the murder to be the handiwork of Maoists.
Following the incident, police have intensified security in the region and launched a manhunt to nab the killers.
