Bhubaneswar: The woman, whose body was recovered from a toilet of Dhanbad Express on April 20, was murdered inside the train while travelling from Rourkela to Bhubaneswar, the postmortem report revealed.
The yet-to-be-identified woman aged about 25-30 years was murdered within 24 to 34 hours of postmortem. However, the exact time and place of murder is still not known.
She had boarded the Dhanbad Express from Rourkela at 11 pm on April 19. The train arrived at platform-6 of Bhubaneswar station at 8.05am. Her body was found inside the lavatory of S/5 coach of the train by a technician checking the upper gear of the train at the yard at 11.55 am the following day. The postmortem was conducted on April 21.
The reason behind murder can be known only after her identity is ascertained, a GRP official said.
She was captured in CCTV camera with a youth at Rourkela station around 11 pm on April 19 and the GRP earlier had issued helpline numbers for the identity of the woman. In its posters, the GRP said that the body appeared to be that of a married woman of around five feet height, slim figure and dusky complexion. She wore salwar and kurti, red bangles and an imitation ‘Mangalsutra’.
