Bhubaneswar: Veteran actor Raimohan Parida, who was found dead at his house at Prachi Vihar in Odisha capital on June 24, died of asphyxia due to hanging, sources at Capital Hospital said quoting his postmortem report.

The Commissionerate Police has received the report.

The viscera of the actor have also been sent to the State Forensic Science Laboratory here for test.

Based on preliminary investigation, police had earlier said that the 58-year-old Parida hanged himself from the ceiling of his drawing room. He was alone at home. He spoke to his wife and sent goodbye messages to her and his two daughters before allegedly taking the extreme step.

Speaking to mediapersons on Monday, Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh said the actor was apparently battling depression. “From preliminary investigation, it appears that the actor was under mental pressure,” he said.

His family members, relatives, neighbours and driver are being interrogated in connection with the incident. “We have also seized the late actor’s mobile phone, from which we might get some leads,” the DCP added.

Parida has over 100 films to his credit and excelled in negative roles both on small and big screens.
