Dhenkanal: With frequent power outage amid scorching heat making life miserable for the people across Odisha, BJP workers on Monday held a protest at Tata Power Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL) office in Dhenkanal.
A large number of BJP workers led by former MP Rudra Pani and ex-MLA Krushna Chandra Patra staged the protest at the TPCODL office. The protesters also locked the main gate of the office protesting the power outage in the area.
Demanding immediate steps to ensure uninterrupted power supply, the demonstrators threatened to give a call for complete shutdown across the district if necessary measure are not taken to address the power problem.
Accusing the BJD government in the state of having failed to ensure proper power distribution, Rudra Pani said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik should applogise to the people while Energy Minister Pratap Keshari Deb should resign forthwith.
The protesters said the saffron party will intensify the protest and call for Dhenkanal bandh if the authorities fail to take concrete steps to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity.
The saffron party workers withdrew their demonstration after a senior TPCODL official spoke to them and assured that necessary steps are being taken to improve power supply.
