Nabarangpur: Several science students of Nabarangpur Model Degree College were in for a shock on Saturday when their first semester examination results showed that they had ‘absented’ from their practical examination.
There was palpable tension on the campus with all the 24 students who had taken their practical test off-line were declared ‘absent’. The college authorities had also contacted the Berhampur University controller of examinations several times but to no avail, it was learnt.
However, the college principal assured the agitated students that their practical marks would be posted and a revised marksheet issued soon.
According to Amritrani Mukund, a first semester student of the college, the mark memo issued to 23 showed that they were absent in Mechanics Paper II and hence all were treated as ‘failed’. When the students went to the principal, he said the issue would be resolved soon in consultation with the university authorities.
When contacted, principal Ranjan Behera said the college had submitted practical marks of all students to the university. But the marks could not be posted in the result sheets. However, the controller of examinations has promised to issue fresh marksheet at the earliest and students need not worry about it, he added.
