Pradeep Panigrahi Bail Plea: Orissa HC Asks CB To Submit Case Diary

Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Monday directed the Crime Branch to submit case diary pertaining to the arrest of expelled BJD leader and Gopalpur MLA Pradeep Panigrahi for his complicity with Akash Pathak in the Tata Motors job fraud.

The court directed CB to submit the case diary for next hearing scheduled next week.

The directive of the court came in response to a bail petition filed by Panigrahi.

Panigrahi, who is now lodged in Jharpada Special Jail at Bhubaneswar, was arrested by the Crime Branch on December 3 last year on charges of forgery, fraud and criminal conspiracy.

As his bail petition was rejected by Judicial Magistrate (First Class) (JMFC) and subsequently by District Sessions Court, Khurda, he had applied for bail in the High Court through his counsel and senior lawyer Pitambar Acharya on December 10.

According to the Crime Branch, Panigrahi had collected money from people on behalf of Akash Pathak, son of suspended IFS officer Abhay Pathak, on the pretext of providing jobs in Tata Motors.
