Pre-Registration Compulsory For Returnees, Only 11 Access Routes Open For Them: Odisha Govt

Bhubaneswar: Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy on Friday said that 14-day quarantine is compulsory for those intending to return to Odisha from other states.

“In urban areas, the returnees will be encouraged to undergo home quarantine or paid quarantine after screening of their health condition. A notice will pasted on the door of those under home quarantine. Institutional quarantine is mandatory in rural areas where temporary health camps with 2.60 lakh beds have already been readied,” he said.

The chief secretary further said that those travelling by road should obtain passes from the authorities of the originating districts. “The pass should mention whether the person has registered on Odisha government portal or the destination district,” he said.

There are 11 border check points through which people can come into the state by road. “We have set up camp offices at these points where the pre-registration details of the returnees will be checked,” he said.

They are Birmitrapur (Sundargarh), Champua (Keonjhar), Chandili (Koraput), Girisola (Ganjam), Jamsola (Mayurbhanj), Kerada (Rayagada), Khariar Road (Nuapada), Laxmannath (Balasore),  Luhurachati (Bargarh), Motu (Malkangiri) and Sunki (Koraput).

However, people those who have not registered on the government portal will be allowed to register themselves at these camp offices. The returnees will be stamped with indelible ink on their right hand, mentioning their date of entry, and it will be used to calculate quarantine period, he further said.

Tripathy said prior permission of the state government is required for point-to-point train movements. “We have information that one train will leave Kerala tonight and another from Gujarat in the next few days. Those returning via trains will be allowed to alight at only some designated railway stations,” he said.

Notably, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had held discussion with his Maharashtra, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu counterparts about stranded migrants from Odisha and their safe return to the state.

While buses carrying migrant workers reached Ganjam on Wednesday night, 166 students left Kota in Rajasthan in six buses on Friday.
