Gurugram: A seven-year-old pregnant goat was allegedly gang-raped by eight men in Mewat district of Haryana on Wednesday night. The goat died a day after the assault.
Police have charged them under Section 377 which prohibits ‘carnal intercourse against the order of nature with man, woman or animal’ and have taken the eight men into custody.
The owner, Aslup Khan, had caught the men in the act and they were beaten up by the villagers. He informed media that he observed that the gate of the shed was open at 11 pm and raised an alarm. The men, who were regular offenders, were in an inebriated state, according to Khan.
“Our team is investigating the case and has recorded the statement of the goat’s owner, who allegedly caught the three accused in the act. We are also in the process of recording the statements of other eyewitnesses and villagers to know the exact sequence of the crime and arrests will be made once we get all the details,” informed Nazneen Bhasin, SP of Nuh.
Khan also informed that his goat was unable to walk after the assault and was almost ‘paralysed’.
Police sources said that one of accused even mocked Khan about the goat the day following the incident and said that ‘he and his friends had a nice time that night’.
The goat died at 6pm on Thursday. Police instructed veterinary surgeon, Dr Ramvir Bhardwaj to conduct postmortem.
Dr Bhardwaj informed that the goat was 50 weeks pregnant and blood was found in its windpipe.
