Pregnant Woman Dies After Being Kicked By Father In Odisha’s Mayurbhanj; Accused Held

Bhubaneswar: A pregnant woman died after she was allegedly kicked by her father at a village in Kaptipada area of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.

The incident took place at Patharkhani village under Kaptipada police limits in in the district. The woman was staying with her parents after the death of her husband, sources said.

The woman along with her three-year-old daughter had returned to her native place after the death of her husband.

The woman was reportedly found five-month pregnant two days ago. Suspecting her character, the accused allegedly kicked her abdomen repeatedly. He also allegedly hit the woman with a wooden plank, causing her grievous injuries. The woman subsequently died, they said.

On being informed, police personnel rushed to the spot and sent the body for postmortem. They also nabbed the accused and registered a case. Further investigation into the incident is in progress.
