Nabarangpur: A pregnant woman of Hatigaon village under Raighar block in Nabarangpur district died on Friday after she was allegedly administered an injection by a quack.
The accused has been identified as Nanduram Ganda of Daspur village.
According to sources, family members of the three-month pregnant woman called a quack after she complained of illness. After a brief check-up, Ganda administered an injection and gave her some malaria tablet. He also prescribed other medications for the woman.
Following this, the woman fell unconscious. She was initially rushed to Raighar CHC and later shifted to Nabarangpur district headquarters hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Rupesh Dhali, a doctor at Raighar CHC, lodged a complaint against the quack, who is absconding.
Further investigation is underway.
