Pregnant woman dies in road accident

Boudh: A pregnant woman died after being hit by a speeding car in front of the main gate of Manamunda community hospital in Boudh district on Sunday.
The deceased, identified as Dhaneswari Danti of Dhungiapadar village in the district, was returning home from the hospital by foot when the accident occurred. She sustained injuries and died on the spot.
The woman gone to the hospital for a medical check-up.
Police have seized the car and detained its driver.
Tension prevailed at Manamunda Medical Chhak following the accident as some local residents blocked NH-57 connecting Khurda-Balangir road by burning tyres and sought adequate compensation for the family of the deceased.
