Balasore: A woman was found hanging at her in-laws’ place at Mainshamunda village under Khaira block in Odisha’s Balasore district on Friday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Sasmita Sahu. She was eight months pregnant.
According to sources, her husband Deepak Behera found her hanging from a ceiling fan when he woke up this morning. He then informed her father, who brought Sasmita’s body down and informed the police.
The couple was married for eight years.
Sasmita’s family members alleged Deepak used to torture her and often beat her in an inebriated state. They suspect that she was strangulated to death by Deepak, who was addicted to alcohol.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case and launched a probe.
