Nabarangpur: In another instance of poor road connectivity affecting healthcare services in rural pockets of the state, a pregnant woman was forced to walk 2 km while experiencing labour pain after 102 ambulance failed to reach her house.
The incident was reported from Muralabai village under Nandahandi block in Nabarangpur district on Friday morning.
According to reports, the family members of Kasturi Jani dialed 102 ambulance service after she complained of labour pain. However, the ambulance couldn’t reach the village for lack of road.
Left with little choice, the woman walked around 2 km along with her family members to the ambulance waiting outside the village from where she was taken to Daruthenga hospital. Fortunately, she managed to reach the hospital in time to deliver a baby.
The woman and her baby are doing fine, hospital authorities said.
