President Appoints New Governors For 2 States; Kavinder Gupta Named LG Of Ladakh

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu has appointed new governors for Haryana and Goa, along with a new Lieutenant Governor (LG) for Union Territory of Ladakh, according to an official communication released on Monday.

Prof Ashim Kumar Ghosh, a respected academic and political thinker, has been named new Governor of Haryana, succeeding Bandaru Dattatreya serving in the role since 2021, and former Civil Aviation Minister Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju as the Governor of Goa, succeeding PS Sreedharan Pillai.

The former deputy chief minister of undivided Jammu and Kashmir Kavinder Gupta has been appointed as the new Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh. He is the first Jammu-born leader to hold the top post in the Union Territory.

He will replace Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), whose resignation has been accepted by the President.

“These appointments will take effect from the dates they will assume charge of their respective offices,” it added.
