Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu will attend the concluding function of the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas to be held in Bhubaneswar on January 10, 2025.
This was stated by Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mohapatra while speaking to media persons after attending a preparatory meeting on the arrangements in the city on Tuesday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are also likely to attend the three-day celebration, he added.
Stating that it was a golden opportunity to showcase the culture and traditions of Odisha in the international arena, the minister called upon the people to join hand to make it a grand success. The celebration will continue from January 8 to 10.
“As per schedule, the Union Home Minister will attend the inaugural function while the Prime Minister will be present on the second day and the President will participate in the final day celebration,” he said.
He further said prominent guests from around 140 countries and 7,000 Pravasi Bharatiyas (NRIs) will come to Odisha to attend the celebration. The booking in hotels, guest houses and inspection bungalows was going on for their comfortable stay.
“The Capital Region Urban Transport will run 50 new buses and 5 double-decker buses for transportation of the guests and visitors. Arrangements are being made for their visit to tourist places in Bhubaneswar, Puri, Konark and Cuttack,” the minister said.
Elaborate security arrangements were also being put in place to prevent any untoward incident during the functions, he added.
