Bhubaneswar: The Indian Navy will showcase its maritime strength with an operational demonstration at Blue Flag Beach in Odisha’s Puri, on Navy Day, December 4, with President Droupadi Murmu as the Chief Guest.
According to sources, the President will be also be visiting her home district, Mayurbhanj, during this visit to Odisha from December 3-7. She will arrive at Biju Patnaik International Airport here on December 3 and attend various programmes in Bhubaneswar and Puri for 3 days.
On December 6, Murmu will land at a temporary helipad at Rangamatia in Mayurbhanj in a special helicopter from Kolkata’s Defence Airbase and travel to tribal village of Uparbeda by road. She is scheduled to visit Uparbeda Government High School, where she did her schooling, and interact with students and teachers. She will then proceed to her residence at Rairangpur for lunch and inaugurate an ambulance at the local hospital.
The President will also visit Rairangpur Women’s College and interact with students and faculty and later offer prayers at Puneswar Mahadev Temple. She will then make a night halt at her Rairangpur residence.
The following day, she will meet locals in the morning and then fly from Dandbosh airstrip to Bangiriposh to lay foundation stone for 3 railway projects – Badampahar-Kendujhargarh, Bangriposi-Gorumahisani and Buramara-Chakulia.
Along with this, she will also lay foundation stones for Tribal Research Centre, Dandbosh airstrip and upgrading sub-hospital via video conferencing before returning to Delhi via a special flight from Kolkata’s Defence Airbase, the sources added.
