Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu will be visiting Odisha twice this month from November 20-22 and again from November 26-27.
According to official sources, the President will attend All India Santali Writers’ Conference after arriving Baripada helipad from Kalaikunda airport in West Bengal at 10.55 am on November 20 and may stay in her residence at Rairangpur. This would be her second visit to her home district since assuming office in July last year.
The following morning, she will embark on a 32-km train journey from Badampahar railway station to Rairangpur, her native place in Mayurbhanj district after flagging off three new trains — Tatanagar-Badampahar Memu, Badampahar-Rourkela Express and Shalimar-Badampahar Express. Prior to that, Murmu is scheduled to inaugurate a skill training centre at Pahadpur in Mayurbhanj and interact with local villagers.
She will also virtually inaugurate the new Rairangpur postal division, different projects of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and physically release a commemorative special cover on November 21. She will reach Burla the same day around 4.10 pm and attend the 15th annual convocation of the Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology, Burla, as the chief guest.
On November 22, the President will be the chief guest at the launch of the ‘National Education Campaign — Rising India through Spiritual Empowerment’ organised by Brahma Kumaris at Sambalpur.
On her second visit, she will arrive in Bhubaneswar on November 26 and attend the ‘Boita Bandan Ustav’ organised by the Paradip Port Authority on November 27.
Chief Secretary P K Jena held a preparatory meeting with the development commissioner, DGP, home secretary, state intelligence chief, revenue divisional commissioners and district collectors on Wednesday (November 15) to ensure a smooth visit of President Droupadi Murmu to the state on both the occasions.
