New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu underwent cataract surgery on Sunday at the Army Hospital (Referral & Research) in New Delhi.
According to an official press release, the surgery was successful and she has been discharged from the hospital.
A team of ophthalmologists from the Indian army medical corps led by Brigadier Sanjay Kumar Mishra of Lucknow conducted the surgery.
President Murmu was on a two-day visit to Assam that concluded on Friday. During this, Murmu paid a visit to the Shaktipeeth Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati.
It is pertinent to mention here that during Covid pandemic, Brigadier Mishra and his team conducted successful cataract operations of former commander-in-chief Ram Nath Kovind and first lady Savita Kovind between August and September 2021.
