Bhubaneswar: Ahead of President Droupadi Murmu’s four-day Odisha visit from July 6 to 9, the Commissionerate Police has prepared a blueprint to beef up security at the venues she is scheduled to visit in Bhubaneswar.
Commissioner of Police Sanjeeb Panda on Wednesday informed media that adequate security arrangements are being made for the President’s programmes scheduled on July 6, 8 and 9 in Bhubaneswar. She will be visiting Puri for the Rath Yatra on July 7.
“We have started detailed consultations with officials, analysing the areas where the public meetings have been scheduled and are also focusing on route plan as the journey is long,” Panda told media.
As the President’s visit is during Rath Yatra, the Commissionerate Police, Panda said, may face challenges with regard to force deployment both for her programmes and the festival. “Route lining and sanitisation will be a challenge. But as the President’s security is important for us we have begun preparations so that there are no inconveniences,” he said.
According to the tentative plan, the President is scheduled to address a public gathering at Jaidev Bhawan on July 6, visit Khandagiri, Udaygiri and attend a programme of Brhahmakumaris at Andharua on July 8, and on July 9, will attend a programme at National Institute of Science Education & Research (NISER) in Jatani.
Panda said that as the Commissionerate Police has no role at Rath Yatra in Puri, their focus is on enhancing security for the President’s programmes in Bhubaneswar.
