Bhubaneswar: Governor Ganeshi Lal, Cheif Minister Naveen Patnaik and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan saw President Droupadi Murmu off at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Odisha capital as she concluded her maiden visit to her home state after assuming charge of the top constitutional post in the country.

On day two of his visit, she visited Tapoban High School at Khandagiri and her alma mater Capital Girls’ High School and Kuntalakumari Sabat Adivasi Girls Hostel at Unit 2 and attended a special function at Jayadev Bhawan. Here are some pictures from her visits:

Tapoban High School

She spent around 12 minutes at the school and spoke about how her grandmother had been a role model for her during her interaction with the students and alumni.

Describing the children of the present day as “fortunate”, the President said: “The condition of schools has improved a lot. In my village Uperbeda, the school back then was a mud structure with a tiled roof and chipped floors, which was fixed by applying cow dung every week. We had to sweep the floor every day. I appeal to you to work hard and concentrate on your studies.”

The room has some old pictures of her and a cot which she used. She also planted a sapling on the premises. Later, Murmu met her 13 classmates, who were invited to the school.
