Dr Patnaik is the first PG student from the Department of Surgery to have secured the highest marks amongst all postgraduate students of MKCG.
“It is a very proud moment for all of us. We are all very happy about it,” said Head of the Department of Surgery Prof Dr Siba Prasad Dash.
Describing Dr Satyaswarup as a meritorious student, faculty members of all eight units of the department praised his interest in social service and promptness in serving patients even at odd hours.
Dr Satyaswarup, who is happy to have secured the highest marks said. “I did it despite my busy PG curriculum and hectic academic activities including seminars and dissertation. Dealing with patients is a great challenge. We must retrospect how we handle and counsel them. I am satisfied with what I did for the patients.”

They are officially engaged for eight hours daily but Dr Satyaswarup and other PG students spend more time in the MKCG MCH on compassionate grounds, sources said.
