Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu has accorded approval for the conferment of the prestigious President’s Police Colour on the Odisha Police in recognition of its distinguished service and excellence.
The decision was communicated by the Ministry of Home Affairs to the Chief Secretary of Odisha through an official letter.
Also known as ‘Nishaan’, the President’s Police Colour is considered the highest honour awarded to a police force in the country. It is granted in re
cognition of exceptional performance in areas such as crime prevention, maintenance of law and order, disaster response, and administrative efficiency.
The evaluation process also considers key aspects like recruitment policies, training standards, welfare measures for personnel, and efforts towards gender inclusion within the force.
With this honour, Odisha Police moved to a select group of police organisations in the country that have been recognised for their consistent dedication and service. Officers of the awarded unit will be entitled to wear a special emblem on the left sleeve of their uniform as a mark of distinction.
The announcement comes as Odisha Police celebrates its 91st Foundation Day. The President’s Police Colour will be formally presented in a ceremonial event, where the Odisha Police flag will be adorned with the emblem of distinction, sources said.
