President’s Odisha Visit Next Week: Check Traffic Curbs In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Friday issued a traffic advisory and public order restrictions in Bhubaneswar in view of President Droupadi Murmu’s two-day visit to Odisha on March 24 and 25.

The restrictions are aimed at ensuring smooth traffic flow and security during the President’s visit.
As per the advisory, vehicles will face restrictions on specific routes during the following times:

March 24 (Monday): Airport Square → Hospital Square → AG Square → Left turn at Raj Bhavan Square from 5:25 pm to 6:05 pm.

March 25 (Tuesday): Raj Bhavan Square → AG Square → Right turn at Hospital Square → Airport Square from 8:50 am to 9:20 am.

The Commissionerate Police has urged the public to plan their routes accordingly to avoid inconvenience.

The restrictions have been imposed under Section 28 of the Odisha Urban Police Act, 2003, and Regulation 36 of the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate (Traffic and Public Order) Regulations, 2008.

As per the schedule, the President Murmu will arrive at Bhubaneswar on March 24 by a special Indian Air Force flight and proceed to Kantilo in Nayagarh district via a special helicopter. After landing at Paltan Padia in Kantilo, she will offer prayers at the famous Nilamadhab Temple and visit Dhanchangada and Kaliapalli to attend various programs.

She will attend the annual function of the Bharatiya Vishwavasu Shabar Samaj Foundation in Kaliapalli as the chief guest. After this function, she will return to Bhubaneswar and spend the night at the Raj Bhavan.

On March 25, the President is scheduled to attend the convocation ceremony of Ravenshaw University in Cuttack as the Chief Guest.

Later, the President will lay the foundation stone for a development project at Ravenshaw Girls’ High School. After the function, he will have lunch at the Circuit House in Cuttack and rest for some time. Thereafter, the President will pay homage by garlanding the statue of Adikabi Sarala Das at Tulsipur in the city. From there, she will reach the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium to attend the Kalinga Ratna Award-2024 programme organised by the Sarala Sahitya Sansad on the occasion of the birth anniversary of poet Sarala Das. After the event, Murmu is scheduled to proceed to Bhubaneswar and return to Delhi at 5.30 pm.

It may be recalled that the President had last visited the state in January this year when it hosted the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas event. She also undertook a five-day visit to the state from December 3, last year, during which attended a number of programmes and also graced the Navy Day Celebrations as its chief guest at the Blue Flag Beach in Puri.
