New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have expressed grief over loss of lives in a bus accident in Chhattisgarh’s Durg district on Tuesday night.
A bus carrying 40 employees of a private firm overturned and fell about 50 feet into a ‘murum’ soil mine pit in the Kumhari area, killing 12 people and injuring 14. The accident took place around 8.30 pm when the victims — all employees of Kediya distillery company — were returning home from work, Durg SP Jitendra Shukla told reporters
The deceased include 3 women. “10 out of the total injured are in serious conditions and being shifted to AIIMS,” he added.
Durg Collector Richa Prakash Choudhary said that a magisterial probe had been ordered into the incident. “After all investigation is carried out, the accused will be dealt with accordingly…” she said.
The collector said that the company has offered compensation to the victims, adding that they will also get similar aid from the administration.
