Dehradun: In a unique protest, a priest has been doing ‘Shirshasana’ outside the Kedarnath shrine in Uttarakhand.
Acharya Santosh Trivedi’s aim is to intensify the ongoing stir against the formation of Uttarkhand Char Dham Devasthanam Management Board (UCDDMB).
“I will protest like this for seven days. If the state government doesn’t dissolve this board, there will be a major protest,” the acharya was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Priests have been carrying out peaceful protests outside Kedarnath temple since last week, demanding the disbandment of UCDDMB. Their argument is that the formation of the board has sidelined their rights.
“If the government does not take a decision soon, then the movement will be intensified,” Kedarnath Teerth Purohit Samaj member Ankit Semwal said.
Kedarnath is the most remote of the Char Dhams. The Uttarakhand government opened Char Dham Yatra for locals on June 15.
