Prime Minister Inaugurates Combined Commanders’ Conference In Kolkata

Kolkata: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 16th edition of the Combined Commanders’ Conference (CCC2025) in Kolkata on Monday. The biennial conference is being hosted by the Army’s Eastern Command at its headquarters in Vijay Durg (formerly Fort William).

The theme of the conference is ‘Year of Reforms – Transformation for the Future’ and it focuses on driving transformative reforms across the Indian Armed Forces. Deliberations are being held on a wide range of strategic issues – including force modernisation, jointness, integration and enhancing operational readiness for multi-domain warfare.

“The Prime Minister lauded the Indian Armed Forces for their exemplary role in Op Sindoor and highlighted their vital contribution towards nation building. He also unveiled the “Indian Armed Forces Vision 2047” document, charting the path for a future-ready Indian Armed Forces,” the Ministry of Defence spokesperson in Kolkata said.

The three-day conference is the first crucial meet after Op Sindoor and will be attended by defence minister Rajnath Singh. This punitive and targeted campaign to take down the terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir showcased a calibrated, tri-services response embodying precision, professionalism and purpose.

This military offensive also brought to the fore the importance of technology in modern day warfare. The effectiveness of indigenously-developed technology was also tested during the four-day conflict, leading to thrust towards self reliance.

Among those present during the inaugural session were National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and all the three chiefs of the Indian armed forces.

This conference is considered the apex brainstorming forum of the armed forces that brings together the nation’s top civil and military leadership to exchange views and discuss strategic, institutional and operational priorities, with interactive sessions involving officers of various ranks.

The Prime Minister left for Purnea in Bihar from Kolkata, where he is set to launch several development projects worth over Rs 36,000 crore and address a public rally. He will also inaugurate a newly developed airport terminal in the north Bihar town, fulfilling the region’s long-standing demand for air connectivity.
