Prime Minister Performs ‘Bhumi Pujan’ For Ram Temple In Ayodhya

New Delhi: History was rewritten on Wednesday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for construction of a grand Ram temple amid chanting of Vedic ‘shlokas’ and performing of yajna at Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh.

As scheduled, the prime minister first offered prayer to the deity, Ram Lalla Virajman and then made a parikrama of the shrine amid blowing of conches. He also planted a ‘Parijat’ sapling on the temple premises.

Accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the prime minister also offered prayers at the 10th century Hanuman Garhi temple and then proceeded for the ‘Bhumi Pujan’ ceremony.

Modi sat through the entire period of the ‘Bhumi Puja’ and later, addressed the saints and sadhus who had congregated to participate in the holy function.

Besides Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat were present.

Holy soil and water from across the country including Odisha were used during the ‘Bhumi Pujan’.

The entire function was organised following all the protocols of COVID-19.
