London: Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle’s war with the media just got escalated.
In the Netflix documentary ‘Harry & Meghan’, Meghan says she had a miscarriage after the birth of the couple’s first child, and Harry blames it on the actions of Associated Newspapers, publisher of the Mail On Sunday and Mail Online.
“I believe my wife suffered a miscarriage because of what the Mail did,” Harry says in the documentary.
“I watched the whole thing. Now do we absolutely know that the miscarriage was caused by that? Of course we don’t. But bearing in mind the stress that caused, the lack of sleep and the timing of the pregnancy, how many weeks in she was, I can say from what I saw that that miscarriage was created by what they were trying to do to her,” he adds.
Meghan recalled her miscarriage in July 2020, saying: “I was pregnant, I really wasn’t sleeping and the first morning that we woke up in our new home is when I miscarried.”
Meghan goes on to say in the programme: “When I reveal things that are moments of vulnerability, when it comes to having a miscarriage and maybe having felt ashamed about that, like, it’s OK, you’re human, it’s OK to talk about that.
“And I could make the choice to never talk about those things, or I could make the choice to say with all the bad that comes with this, the good is being able to help other people. That’s the point of life, right, is connection and community like that.”
Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex are seeking legal recourse over the Mail reproducing, in February 2019. a letter that Meghan had written to her estranged father Thomas Markle.
But this is the first time that the controversial couple directly accused the publishers of Daily Mail of causing Meghan’s miscarriage.
Harry and Meghan in 2020 decided to shed their ‘royal duties’ and move to the USA.
